Non-Campus Housing Environment
For those who do not require immediate proximity to The University of Michigan Central Campus the best time to shop for housing is during the late spring and summer. Our firm manages a number of houses and apartment buildings in neighborhoods surrounding, but more distant from, the campus area. We post listing for these types of properties 45 to 60 days in advance of a vacancy. So, unlike the campus environment, leasing 9-10 months in advance is not required. These units are frequently, but not necessarily, occupied by UM faculty and their families. Often recent graduates who have remained in Ann Arbor to start new jobs find these rentals attractive. Finally, a number of these homes are leased to families with no affiliation to the university community. We manage about 100 houses and apartments in this category. These rentals range from efficiency apartments to four bedroom houses.
